ZAMBIA BUILDING HOUSING UNITS AT K2.5m PER HOUSING UNIT WHILE THE SAME KIND IS BEING BUILT AT K65000 IN RWANDA – ALEXANDER NKOSI

Rwanda is constructing low cost housing units called Integrated Model Villages (IMV).

The first one to be completed is Karama Integrated Model Village consisting 240 housing units; a health facility, a secondary school with modern labs, computer roams, library and learning facilities; a primary school with state of the art early childhood learning facilities; green houses for gardening, modern poultry and livestock facilities and a mini trading centre.

The total cost for Karama Integrated Model Village is $8.5 million. Despite all these additional facilities a housing unit that comes with economic empowerment, education and health facilities only costs $35,000 (K650,000).

He said the Construcrion is being done by Rwanda Defense Forces.

“Zambia is also doing well with housing units for security wings. A total of 2350 are being constructed at a cost of $320 million.This implies that each housing unit costs $136,000 (K2.5 million). Construction is being done by AVIC international he said.”

“Zambian Men and women in uniform can do a better job given an opportunity. ZNS has proved the efficiency of men and women in uniforms when it comes to feeder roads and agriculture.” He said.

He further stated that Zambia can save a lot of money if the men and women in uniform can engaged and the defense force can do a lot of things.
Kenya gave a contract to sew the police uniforms to a local company and produced good results.
