The UPND has taken speaker of the National Assembly, Dr. Patrick Matibini’s decision to allow debate on bill 10 to court.
UPND leader of the opposition, Jack Mwiimbu has applied for leave to commence judicial review against the speaker’s decision to restore the constitutional amendment Bill number 10 of 2019 on the order paper for continued debate.
In this matter, Mr. Mwiimbu has cited the Attorney General Likando Kalaluka as the respondent.
According to a statement of application for leave to apply for judicial review, Mr. Mwiimbu is seeking an order of court to quash the speakers’ decision saying it is illegal.
Mr. Mwimbu wants the court to halt the debate in Parliament over the bill saying the bill’s life elapsed on June 2, 2020.
